Rowling et les superbes illustrations au trait de Tomislav Tomic. Because I am pretty much incapable of not rating a J. Rowling book amazing This was a really fun little book; the fairy tales are creepy, wacky, and all have strong messages about ethics and social relations. There's also literary commentary written by Dumbledore, and it's priceless. Lots of fun tidbits about life in the Wizarding world, and some more clarification about how wands work.

The author's illustrations are quite cute as well. This is a short book containing fairy tales from the world of Harry Potter. But if you're having Harry Potter nostalgia, this book is for you. This book of faux-folk tales inhabits a rather nebulous position in the world of children's books. On one hand, it was published as a supplement to the last and most mature Harry Potter book in order to explain the legends surrounding the Deathly Hallows. On the other hand, the stories it contains really do feel like fairy tales, just from the witch's point of view.

As such, it might be appropriate for much younger audiences than the latter Harry Potter series. It also contains numerous footnotes and endnotes and other annotations from in-universe characters such as Hermione Granger and Albus Dumbledore, which would indicate that someone who already has a familiarity with the series will get the most out of it.

At the same time those who have completed the series may feel that the book is a sort of regression as one of the commentators actually dies before the conclusion of the series.

Based on this, the best time to read The Tales of Beadle the Bard would be between the sixth and seventh books, placing the ideal reader between the ages of 12 and Of course, there is no real age cap for the series as many adults enjoy it too, but for this particular volume, it seems as though slightly younger audiences would enjoy it more.

What can I say, really? The woman knows how to write, and does it well. Rowling clearly did her research before putting this together, and paid close attention to how the old tales were formulated for tone, plot, characters, setting, and delivery. She manages to deliver her own short tales with exquisite precision, crafted carefully to resemble an ancient tome of traditional stories.

In short? I loved it. I greatly admire Rowling for her ability to research and then turn her acquired knowledge into entertaining fiction. Here at Walmart. Your email address will never be sold or distributed to a third party for any reason.
